What a wonderful gem in the south burbs. My wife and I have been here twice now and couldn't recommend it more highly. It stands up to our favorite Italian restaurants in the city. Food is handmade, fresh, and from the highest quality ingredients. Both meals started with the grilled octopus. We really like variety, so getting the same appetizer says a lot about how much we liked it. We'll probably get out again next time. Don't miss the specials. Tonight, I had the chef's risotto, featuring duck thigh and caramelized onion. I was full 1/3 into the plate but just couldn't stop myself from cleaning the plate. My wife had the squid ink pasta, it was fresh and cooked perfectly, but as good as it was, I certainly claimed the prize of best dish. Our service on both trips was excellent. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. You can tell how much they care about their customers.

Authentic Italian cooking at it's best!! Absolutely love this place! We come here often for dinner and have never been disappointed! Whether I'm out with friends or a romantic evening with my husband Frankies is our go to place. Each item is a wonderful tasty surprise and staff is top notch! A family member is always on the premises, and they are so welcoming and truly care that you have a wonderful dining experience! I just had my first large party there! It was my future Daughter-in-law's Bridal Shower and it was amazing -- we received many compliments from our guests :) Angela (their event coordinator) gave me great ideas and numbers of companies to contact for their services (loved her recommendation of Bokay Floral in Frankfort!). Having your party there will guarantee an elegant and tasty affair!

I was in town for work and I enjoy trying local fare. I ordered carry out, so my involvement with the staff was minimal, but still impressive. The inside looked nice and clean. The calamari with marinara was very good and the vodka cream sauce (ordered the rigatoni alla vodka) was everything I expected based on previous reviews-amazing. My only complaint (and why it did not receive 5 stars from me) was that the prices listed on the website were all several dollars lower than what I was charged when I went to pick up the order. Being on a corporate budget, I was ordering based on my limit. I realize that if it were that important I could've simply asked when I called and I'm sure it's just a matter of updating the website.

I thought I would really like this place.... Ambience was very cozy and warm, great music, friendly hostess. I ordered a beet and asparagus salad which was very good. I then ordered the fish special, Ono (should have taken a clue from the name). It was extremely dry, over cooked and tasteless. A few roasted potatoes served on the side which were mediocre at best. Dessert was flourless chocolate cake, which is usually delicious at most restaurants. Sadly, that too was lacking in flavor. Not sure why that was, but first time I didn't want to finish a chocolate cake. Maybe other dishes were good because of all the great reviews this restaurant has gotten, but I wouldn't order this dish again.

I attended a shower today and can not say enough good things about the staff and chef. I am an executive in the food & beverage industry so I always try not to be a pain! Due to certain diet restrictions, i could not eat the pre fixe menu. The servers were so accommodating and made sure I had enough to eat. The chef was gracious enough to make a last minute special meal for me and it was delicious. Thank you!!

Some of the best local Italian food I've ever had! The service was amazing, the wine was delicious and the gnocchi...and risotto...wow. also very accommodating for our large group. Will definitely be back!

This place is the best around! We came here for dinner on a Thursday night. The place was pretty packed, so we waited at the bar for a table to open up. The staff is VERY attentive. The place is very nice and romantic. There was a live singer performing also. All of the food is fresh. The waitress even showed us pictures of the chef with a tray of blue tilapia that was flown in that morning! The chef is from Rome. Everything they make is made from scratch! Even the pasta, sauce, desserts--- Also, the waitress informed us that if there was something that we wanted to eat that was not on the menu, to let her know, and she would check if the chef had the ingredients. If he does, he would make it for you! Awesome sauce!! We started off with the calamari. The marinara is oh so good!! The calamari is also cooked to perfection. Usually at other places, you sometimes get the rubbery texture if it's overcooked. It was not the case here. The breading was the right amount too. There was enough breading to make it crispy, but not overpowering where you couldn't taste the squid. I asked for more marinara and ended up scooping the rest that we didn't finish with a spoon to finish it. Yes, it was THAT GOOD. The Caesar salad was ok. The dressing didn't have too much flavor, but the anchovy was a nice added touch to the dish. The lettuce was crisp and it was not drowning in dressing. Wish that they would cut up the anchovies into smaller pieces and mix it in with the dressing. For our entrees-- we ordered: 1. Lobster ravioli in vodka sauce- This was not on the menu and the waitress mentioned that they did have it in the back. The vodka sauce was the best sauce that I've EVER tasted! The ravioli was the perfect size and there were chunks of lobster inside. This dish was to die for!!! So good!! 2. Seafood risotto- The risotto was cooked perfectly, not to watery or undercooked. The portion is HUGE and with lots of seafood. There was clams, squid, scallops, and mussels. The owner Vince came by a few times to talk to us and he's the most friendliest man on earth! The whole place was nice and cozy and makes you feel like a big family. Since it was our first time, he insisted that we tried 2 desserts on the house!! We tried the pistachio cannoli and a chocolate ......(not sure of the name). Both were so good. Kinda bummed that they ran out of tiramisu, but I'll keep in mind to come earlier next time. We also got a couple shots of Limoncello after dinner before dessert. Vince told us that his son Frank makes it and man was it good! My biggest pet peeve is my water not being refilled, but that was clearly not the case here. All the workers pay such close attention to the customers. My water was never left empty and plates were cleared in a timely manner. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would... and this is the first time out of all my reviews that I'm saying that. By the end of the night, the people that the tables that were left were dancing and singing with the performer. It was an awesome date night and I look forward to coming here in the future. It's my new favorite spot! Oh, on Wednesdays, all pasta dishes are B1G1 FREE!! Thank you Vince for a wonderful night!

If you want an indepth review please refer to Alisa M's review of Frankie's. Essentially, I had the same experience. The food was made from scratch fresh and so good. My risotta was so full of delicious seafood my only qualm was needing another plate to put all the shells in after... not a bad thing at all! The house pinot was good as well and nicely chilled. Wife loved the ice wine martini so much that she had two of them! (we aren't big drinkers.) Service was outstanding. Vince came by so many times to check on us and was really nice talking with. The singer was enjoyable. Just his energy made us enjoy everything and like Alisa said in her review there were people dancing at the end. Loved how he sang some new songs and his version of Uptown Funk had me doing a little chair dancing... probably influenced by the wine and delicious food too. To quote a famous governor, "I'll be back."

The Real Deal. Genuine family Italian. The vodka sauce on pasta is off the charts. Real family atmosphere. Chef is from Rome. Great wine. Good value. I hate Italian chains and love family restaurants. If you are in the area don't miss this.

Up until now we only had Frankies catering for a couple of parties, and it was the best we ever had in fact for the second party our guests were asking if we were having Frankies again. But on Sept. 8 2015, my wife and I decided to have dinner at Frankies Ristorante, which turned out to be the best dining choice we ever made. First of all our waiter Travis, he was the best waiter we ever had anywhere, and that is a very important first impression. He was knowledgeable about everything on the menu, and the wines. He was attentive and personable and represented Frankies very very well. Now the food, the appetizers were absolutely fantastic, for the main course I had Pollo Vesuvio and my wife had the Pollo Parmesan. After the first few bites I told my wife I never wanted to eat anywhere else again, and my wife is a tough customer when it comes to dining out agreed with me. Everything was just so excellent and fresh and you could tell nothing came from a can, everything home made by a Chef who trained and cooked in Rome and came to America 10 years ago looking to work for a family establishment. Frankie...... You hired a good one!!!!! Don't ever let him get away. Nor Travis for that matter. My Pollo Vesuvio was absolutely incredible, the wine sauce, mushrooms and peppers out of this world and two good sized chicken breasts. My wife gave me a sample of her Pollo Parmesan and I almost fell out of my chair. I might have to starve myself for a couple of days before we go back so I can have both dishes. But I cannot wait to try everything on the menu. This Ristorante is a two out bottom of the ninth world series winning grand slam!!!!!!!! I have been to some very very good places but Frankies Ristorante is my absolute favorite. Who would ever think that on 171st. street in Tinley Park sits this culinary gem.

Wish I would've taken a picture before we devoured our dinner! We love this place. I own a healthy choice restaurant, so I'm admittedly finicky, but Frankie's meets my standards. The vodka sauce is fantastic. The atmosphere was so relaxing. I absolutely love this place! Thanks guys for a local gem!

We went here with a group of 8 of us last week. I have been here several times in years past and but not in over a year. There is a reason for that. First off the menu is relativley small so for I am limited for what I like to eat. Second I found this food to be so-so half the time. Not a place I would pick as a first choice as there are many other Italian restaurants around that are better than this one. Although the decor is fairly nice and the service and staff are good the food for me is mediocre part of the time or part of the meal. I will say this and that my wife had the chicken parm and I tasted it for the first time. It was pretty good. I had the wild caught salmon which was a special. It was supposed to be fresh but I am not sure. It had bit of a fishy taste to it and was overdone as it was a bit dry. The sides of roasted potatoes and chefs vegetables were very good. I had a grilled octopus appetizer which was actually very good. So once again another meal here that was partially good. When I was asked how the food was the waitress seemed to not hear me or ask if she could replace the meal. That is my fault as usually I will return a meal. This time I guess I did not because this was the experience I was expecting. Not sure I will be back unless it is chosen for me as part of a group. I will say that everyone else in our group said their meals were good. Those choices were gnocchi with a meatball, risotto, chiken parm and chicken Vesuvio.

We had a wonderful dinner here Friday night. We started with the caprese salad. Karen had the veal limone I had the pork cutlet milanese with roasted red pepper and arugula and of course a hunk of Parmesan. Sides were penne with bolognese and linguini with lemon/wine/garlic. Bottle of wine. Finishing off with a limoncello.

Our favorite!! I highly recommend the Ricotta Gniocci with Vodka Sauce- OUT OF THIS WORLD! They are little delicate ricotta filled pillows :) The staff is outstanding here and make you feel like you are a part of their family. Hands down our favorite Italian restaurant and date spot :)

The best fine dining Italian around! Otimo is very good and open for lunch. Not being open for lunch is the only draw back to Frankie's. The food is great and the service is perfect. Attentive without being overbearing. The menu is not huge like a lot Italian restaurants, but there is something for everybody. Great place with great service. It's by a car wash, get over it. Check it out and make a reservation!!!!

My client and I went to Frankie's on Friday at around 5.30pm. We were treated like they didn't want our money. They were out of the wines we really wanted so we got a recommendation that wasn't good at all. The food tasted bland and not fresh. I will never go back.

I had my daughters wedding shower at Frankie's. I was so pleased with the whole experience. Angela Santoro is the best. She took us through the whole event. The choices for the bridal luncheon were amazing. The food was excellent! We were able to show up a little earlier and set up some of our own special touches for the shower. The staff was outstanding. Very attentive. I had numerous people come up to me to inform me how nice and efficient the servers were. Thank you Frankie's for making this day so much more than what I had even hoped. Carol O'Neill

Haven't been here in a while and wanted to drop a ton of cash on an average meal. We started with a Caesar salad with anchovies. We were specifically asked if we wanted them. The salads came out covered in shredded cheese to cover up the fact that there were no anchovies! Now the waitress seemed a bit flighty from the comments she was making. So when we were finished with out salads and she offered to bring out our anchovies on a plate. What? Why would we want the anchovies served after the salad? My house white wine was nice and chilled and my buddy had a dirty. The drinks were the best part of the meal. Now the owner came by to ask how the food was as they had a new chef. I started to talk and he wasn't interested in anything I had to say. He was still babbling as he got back to the hostess stand. I ordered the only homemade pasta on the menu. Pappardelle con crema di tartufo nero. Black truffle, shitake mushroom in cream sauce. It was a bit bland. I should know as this is what I get every time that I come here. I just wanted to have a good time with some awesome food. I figured the limoncello would save the day. So the server comes out with the frozen ice bucket and ladle, and instead of giving us shot glasses like everyone else in the restaurant. She plops them in my empty wine glass and my friends empty martini glass. Really? Our glasses should not have been empty in the first place. But the limoncelo tasted like a bad slurpy. It was frozen and had a bad aftertaste. What happened? I have no idea why I ordered the tiramisu. It was horrible! They should have just gave me a pudding cup and called it a day. I am over this place. Roccovino's is much less expensive and the service is great.

Been some time since I have been here. The place itself is very nice. Good atmosphere and nice place for a dinner. Drinks are good had my standard Dirty Martini, service was good. I started with a salad and asked for anchovies but they failed to swim onto my plate. Oh well, I can live without. I did go for the special skate wing. I have never had this and was surprised. It was pretty good, plenty of flavor and nice portion. The waitress was correct good meal. After dinner out came the limoncelo. It did not taste right and she did pout it into my empty martini glass. Not the best idea but whats done is done. Ok place but not as good as in the past.

Truly a hidden gem on the south side of Chicago. The Santoro family has probably one of the top 5 Italian restaurants in the Chicago area. Their food service and decor are out of this world. The specials will knock your socks off and the authentic Italian cuisine is second to none. If you love an Italian dinner with an eye on perfection this is a place you want to go.

Overall, not a bad experience. Unfortunately we were seated in the room with two large parties. Attention was paid to these two large groups. Felt like we were forgotten about. Long waits between courses. I would grade the night as a C+

Been coming here for a while now, can't find anything I don't love about this place! The atmosphere, service, and food are all amazing! Pick a section of the menu and you're sure to find a new favorite! Our most recent trip was a pleasant surprise too when we walked in to find out it was live music night! I just find myself able to really relax whenever we dine here and I look forward to going back very soon!

When you walk in the restaurant you will be surprised. The ambience was way better than you would think given they are located at the end of a strip mall. The food was fantastic, I really enjoyed their meat sauce. We will be back again for sure.

Loved it. Food was delicious. Loved the atmosphere. The service was excellent, the wait staff attentive to every detail, never pushy. We enjoyed a bottle of wine before dinner which the list while limited is certainly complete. Salads were nice portions, the house dressing delicious. My wife had the Frankie's salad and our friends the Caesar salad and I a house salad. Our dinners were superb, two off us had the Linguine Fruite Del Mare, a nice portion of Linguine with clams, calamari, shrimp and mussels in a lightly spicy sauce. My wife had Chicken Nina with artichokes, carrots and crusty potatoes - delicious. Our friend had the Chicken Parmesan which was a very generous portion of a pounded chicken breast smothered with sauce and cheese topped with a huge mound of pasta. Desserts were outstanding. We had the Ricotta Tortino which was sweetened ricotta cheese covered with crushed walnuts, Italian cookies and honey. The cannoli was also fresh and wonderful. Would we be back? You bet. This is a gem hidden in Tinley Park.

After reading such great reviews I have to say I was very disappointed. The atmosphere and service were great but the food was just meh. We the special flat bread (it was basil and tomato) as an appetizer and I was unimpressed by the tomatoes used (they did not appear quite ripe) and the entire appetizer tasted like something I might get at a California Pizza Kitchen...I was just looking for something more authentic. As for the main entree we had a seafood risotto (another special) and again I was extremely disappointed. The risotto was not as creamy as I usually prefer and honestly there was just little to no taste. There was a TON of squid and hardly any of the other sea-foods mentioned in the description (shrimp, oysters, mussels). Overall I was just expecting much much more.

I am extremely picky about italian food, just yesterday I tried Frankie's for the first time. I took an order of chicken parmesan and an order of sausage and peppers to go. I had Frankie adjust the pasta sauce to arrabiata on the side pasta that came with the chicken parm. Everything was great! You don't know how excited I am, now that I know Frankie's is around! Can't wait to try more food soon!

My wife and I dined here last night and everything was excellent. We always ask ourselves why we don't dine here more often. The service is the best of any restaurant in the south suburbs. The food was fantastic , We started with the baked clams, you can't get any better. For dinner I had the Veal Marsala and my wife had the Pappardelle con Crema Di Tartufo Nero, both were expertly prepared. The staff and owners are very attentive and make the atmospher very enjoyable.

This is my first Yelp review. I have used Yelp to find places to eat while traveling, but I never felt the urge to review... that changes today. I was in Tinley Park for work and saw the favorable review for Frankie's Ristorante. I decided that I would go based on the ratings. This was the most enjoyable dinner I have had in a very long time. The environment, the food and the service were off the chart. Frankie came to the table to talk and could not have been more hospitable. The service was the awesome ! I don't know when I will be back to Tinley Park, but I will look forward to coming back. I have been to many great restaurants and Frankie's rocked it..... It is a must if you are near Tinley Park.

We've had five great experiences there so far. Last several we had Travis as our waiter who was just great. Even brought out the chef so I could let him know just how much I loved the Halibut fish special. Food is excellent. Appetizers, desserts wonderful too, and the limoncello is a real treat! It's just a really nice, laid back, little Italy restaurant in the heart of Tinley. The whole wait staff, including the management, are really customer focused. Thanks Frankie's!

Maybe we just picked poorly, but didn't like either thing we got at all. Gnocchi's texture was too much like just spoonfuls of ricotta cheese, and the flavor of the risotto was not for me. The service however was very good, and it seemed like a nice place. Worth another try perhaps, but not impressed with the food so far.

I love this place! Feels like a real friendly neighborhood old school italian restaurant! Beautiful decor, great food, and real friendly service. Love the live entertainment when available... Wish we could come more often, but I work nights so i can only be here if I call off! Two for one pasta on Wednesday night.

Definitely overrated. A big disappointment . I was told the fish was fresh and delivered every day. Not so , as soon as my so called fresh salmon dinner was put in front of me I could smell fish ! Fresh fish has no smell ! Frozen fish that is cooked has a fish smell . Not a place for fresh fish . Our waiter Salvador told us that our appetizer of sausage, pepper and vesuvio potatoes was being prepared from scratch, that the sausage was raw when they started to prepare this dish . I waited an hour for this dish !!!! The sausage was less than warm, the potatoes and peppers cold . So much for a freshly prepared dish . And the risotto , forget it, not good . Way too salty , flavorless . Our dinners were comped by the guy walking around the dining area. He apologized . We won't be back .

This place has fantastic food and a fantastic staff. I've read a couple of the reviews about the staff being rude, but I have got to say I didn't experience any of that, perhaps we just got lucky with a fantastic waiter. He was very funny and personable and smiling. He was happy to answer any questions and brought us our food in a timely manner. It was perfect because we got appetizers, entree, and then dessert, but it didn't come one after the other so we didn't get overstuffed. I had the sea bass, sorbet, and minestrone soup and all was fantastic. The Pinot Grigio was fantastic as well. The fish was cooked perfectly and the soup was seasoned just right. Th sorbet was a great way to end the evening on a sweet note which complimented the rest of the food. The ambience made you feel like you were transported to Italy. It was very romantic and a perfect place to go for Valentine's Day. The intimate setting was enhanced by candles and low lights. The decorations weren't gaudy as in some Italian restaurants. They were modest and created an effective background atmosphere. Fantastic! This is not a place to go on a budget. Make sure to look at prices and be careful if you order a special because it might be more than you think. However, you definitely need to check this place out on a night you want to treat yourself or that special someone.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
